Aquest estudi parteix del paper que desenvolupen les treballadores socials en la intervenció en situacions de dol, des del punt de vista físic, psicosocial i espiritual, mitjançant tècniques i habilitats que potencien les seves funcions dins d’aquest àmbit. Per fer-ho, s’ha efectuat una revisió sistemàtica amb la finalitat d’esbrinar si les intervencions han estat prou investigades i establir així si hi ha una producció científica considerable sobre la matèria. L’anàlisi de l’extracció de dades ha manifestat la presència d’intervencions que són efectuades des de la pràctica del treball social en situacions de dol i en els últims moments de vida de les persones en diferents contextos. L’anàlisi dels resultats ha reflectit la manca d’estudis sobre l’objecte d’estudi. És per això que el present estudi encoratja la comunitat científica a continuar treballant en la producció científica basada en l’evidència empírica amb la condició de generar coneixement i potenciar així la figura de la treballadora social dins d’aquest àmbit.
